When it comes to hair removal, there are plenty of options. However, the soft and hard wax debate has been a hot topic in the beauty industry for years. I prefer soft wax from my experience and customer conversation. Soft wax is more gentle. Let’s talk about it!!

Gentle on the Skin

One of the most significant advantages of soft wax is it’s a very thin layer of wax with more control using a waxing strip. In my opinion, it’s a bit more gentle on the skin. Unlike hard resin, which adheres directly to the hair and can sometimes pull at the skin, soft wax adheres to the hair and pulls it from the root, leaving the skin less irritated and red.

Soft wax makes an excellent option for those with sensitive skin or redness and discomfort after waxing. I like to take short-stroke applications when waxing the bikini or intimate area. You will thank me later!

Less Breakage

With soft wax's ability to grip the hair from the root, there's less risk of breakage. This means you're less likely to encounter those annoying ingrown hairs that can be a common issue with other hair removal methods.

While both soft and hard wax have their merits, soft wax has a few key advantages that make it the superior choice for many. It is used for larger areas of the body: legs, arms, and bikini area.

So, next time you book your waxing appointment, know that soft wax has got your back!

Hey there, sun-kissed Face2Face Beauties! Today, we will talk about a skincare essential that's got our hearts fluttering – sunscreen! 🌞❤️

We get it. You've heard it all before. Sunscreen is crucial. But have you ever wondered why? Well, let's dive into sun protection, shall we?

1. The Sun is Sneaky

First, let's debunk a myth: Darker skin tones are not immune to the sun's harmful rays. The sun doesn't discriminate; it affects all skin types. While it's true that people with more melanin have a built-in SPF, it's not enough to protect against all UV damage. So, sunscreen should be your BFF, whether beautifully bronzed or blessed with deep chocolate hues.

2. Premature Aging – No, Thanks!

Picture this: You're 40 but look 30 because you've been diligently wearing sunscreen since your twenties. Sound like a dream? Well, it's achievable! Sunscreen is your secret weapon against premature aging. It fights wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots, helping you maintain that youthful glow.

3. Banish Sunburns

Ah, the dreaded sunburn – it's painful, unsightly, and can lead to long-term skin damage. But guess what? Daily sunscreen application can save you from this ordeal. It forms an invisible shield against the sun's harmful UVB rays, ensuring you won't resemble a lobster at the beach.

4. Guard Your Skin's Health

Sunscreen isn't just about aesthetics; it's about health, too. Prolonged sun exposure can increase your risk of skin cancer. Wearing sunscreen daily significantly reduces this risk. It's like giving your skin a protective shield against the sun's potentially dangerous effects.

5. Even Skin Tone

Are you dealing with uneven skin tone or hyperpigmentation? Sunscreen can be a lifesaver! It helps prevent further darkening of existing spots and promotes a more even complexion. Imagine waking up with a smooth, radiant canvas every day.

6. Boost Your Confidence

Healthy, glowing skin is like an instant confidence booster. When you protect your skin from the sun, you feel good about yourself, and confidence radiates from within. Who wouldn't want that extra pep in their step?

7. Sunscreen for Every Skin Type

Are you worried that sunscreen will make your skin look ashy or greasy? Fear not! There are countless sunscreen options available for every skin type and tone. From lightweight, oil-free formulas to tinted options that blend seamlessly with your complexion, you can find the perfect sunscreen for you.

8. It's a Daily Ritual

Incorporating sunscreen into your daily skincare routine is a breeze. After cleansing and moisturizing, apply sunscreen generously. Remember your neck, ears, and the backs of your hands! It takes just a minute but can save you years of skin woes.

Sunscreen isn't just a seasonal accessory or something reserved for fair-skinned folks. It's a year-round necessity for everyone, regardless of your beautiful skin tone. So, protect your skin, embrace your natural beauty, and let your radiance shine through! 🌟

Remember, sun-kissed, not sun-burned, is the way to go. Wear your sunscreen with pride and let your skin thank you for it in the long run. Happy sun-blocking, lovelies! ☀️❤️

Taking a trip down memory lane: Before opening Face2Face Spa Studio, let's talk about how I got to where I am. My first introduction to the beauty industry was through my mother's salon; I would help whenever possible and needed. I graduated from the University of Phoenix School of Business with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. While working in corporate, I went through two corporate layoffs and decided it was time to go back to school for something I enjoyed beauty school.

When I first began, I thought I loved makeup, and that was my calling; I would walk into beauty school with a full face of makeup every time, and my instructor at the time told me that if I wanted to be the best esthetician, I could be, I needed to understand skin and care for my well-being. I would drink two Pepsis every morning, decided to care for myself, and knew it was time to make healthier choices. Seeing that my skin improved drastically after I applied what I learned and committed to making healthier choices was amazing.

I've been in the industry since 2007. I'm licensed in the States of Georgia and the state of Illinois. I have worked in Georgia as a store manager at American Laser. I returned to Chicago. No matter what I did, I always fell back into skincare; it has always been my passion.

I noticed that when treating people of color, most people needed guidance on providing a service or recommending a product due to being poorly informed or trained. Resulting in skin concerns worsening or overall poor skin care. These situations would infuriate me, and I knew I wanted to make a difference and be able to help all kinds of skin concerns; it is important for me that each person that walks in leaves feeling beautiful and confident, which is why I poured everything into learning everything there is to know.

Of course, you never stop learning, which is why even to this day, I continue to educate myself and take courses that will make me better. As I begin to teach, I know that as my student learn and grow, so will I.

Why become an educator?

Entering the world of education is a new chapter. Being an educator is a two-way street. It's a mutual journey of discovery. Educators play a pivotal role in imparting the technical skills and knowledge that form the foundation of a successful esthetician's career. However, beyond technical know-how, educators are responsible for instilling a strong sense of professionalism and ethics in future estheticians. Recently, there needs to be more emphasis on genuinely caring for each client and how that will either make or break an esthetician's career. Face2Face Spa Studio and I will ensure that my students deeply understand the importance of customer service. "customer service is first before anything people are going to remember how nice you were, how you treated, all the please and thank you before they even talk about how great your service was." The ripple effects of an educator's influence extend beyond the student. Educators shape estheticians who, in turn, positively impact their clients' well-being. Educators enhance clients' self-esteem and confidence by teaching estheticians to provide quality care and personalized treatments.

With all that said, I am very excited to be allowed to be an educator!
